The GIFT Of Prophecy Verses The OFFICE Of Prophecy. The BODY Gets This WRONG, Constantly:

I have to address this because there is a serious issue right now in the body. There are many people predicting events. And, there are many calling these people who are predicting events; ‘Prophets’.

There is a difference in the 2 gifts/office.
A HUGE difference.

There are: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists and Teachers/Pastors.

These are OFFICES. Ephesians 4:11

The other is the gift of prophecy. Which is NOT the same thing. It is for the CHURCH body and edification of the church/body.

‘I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.’ 1 Corinthians 14:5

This is the reason why some of these people are being called ‘false prophets’. Because they are not Prophets. They are either: 1. Flowing supernaturally in the gift of prophecy/knowledge/wisdom OR 2. They are psychic and of a different spirit and may not even know it and it must be confronted. In love, or if not listened to; in admonishment.

What do we do as a body with the GIFT of prophesying? We are supposed to judge IF we are of prophetic nature or perhaps elder/learned. We are supposed to determine if it is prophecy. Or not.

‘And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.’ 1 Corinthians 14: 32

‘For we know in part and we prophesy in part‘, 1 Corinthians 13 8 & 9

And also:

Charity never faileth. But whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 1 Corinthians 13: 9
